My Director is being really nice to me. She asked me this morning if I was interested in a possible freelance children’s illustration job. This is very strange. I didn't think she knew I was an illustrator, let alone children's illustrator. WEiRd. What makes this even Stranger is that she "frown upon" employees having too much going on outside of work. Especially if she thinks it may distract them and take their concentration away from their job. And if someone was to do freelance work what would that say about their dedication. I think she would prefer it if we were all married to our job as she is. (that's probably because she is divorced and doesn't have anyone to go home to.)
This is very out of character for her so I'm not sure if it's just a random act of kindness, or if she has some sort of strange and warped ulterior motive.

Would you be interested in speaking with someone about possibly illustrating their children’s book? The story is just in the early stages, but they are looking for an illustrator to get the book done. It would most likely be funded out of private equity, rather than through a big publishing house, so they need someone who can work inexpensively. I thought you might like the opportunity to get your work published. What do you think?
I would not be involved at all, they just asked me for ideas.
